Zika mosquito carriers (container breeders) bite people during the day. They don’t travel, but stay within a quarter mile of where they are born.
Zika is a virus primarily spread by mosquitoes, but can also be sexually transmitted. Most people have symptoms ranging from fever, rash, joint pain or red eyes. Other common symptoms include muscle pain and headache. The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting for several days to a week. Zika can cause severe birth defects if a pregnant woman becomes infected. See your healthcare provider if you develop the symptoms and have visited an area where the Zika virus is present.
