Santa Claus will make a special appearance – arriving via helicopter courtesy of the Bay County Sheriff’s Office – at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at H.G. Harder’s Park, located at 8110 John Pitts Rd., Panama City. The event highlights Bay County Parks and Recreation’s annual “Christmas at Harder’s Park.”

The front of the park is decorated with Christmas lights and displays around the pond, and visitors are invited to drive or walk through the park any time through Jan. 5 to view the lights.

The Dec. 16 event begins at 4 p.m., and parents are encouraged to bring cameras for pictures with Santa. He will be available for visits from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and cookies will be served. Patrons may also visit Santa’s stables with reindeer and Santa’s Workshop, decorated with toys, Santa letters, and more.

Parks and Recreation is collecting donations of new, unwrapped toys for placement in Santa’s Workshop, and at the end of the event all toys collected will be donated to the Bay County Sheriff’s Department’s Project 25 program. Visitors to the event are encouraged to bring a toy if they wish.

Choir groups who would like to perform at the event are encouraged to call Janie Lucas at 784-4065.
