The grand opening of the newly completed Bay County Courthouse Addition project will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24 on the lawn of the Bay County Courthouse, located at 300 E. 4th St., Panama City. The event will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by tours of the new facility, entertainment and a free picnic lunch. The public is welcome to attend.

County 2300 to close for stormwater repairs

County 2300 to close for stormwater repairs A portion of County Road 2300 will be closed to through traffic for 45 days beginning June 13 to allow for the installation of a double concrete box culvert. The culvert is located roughly 0.6 miles west of the intersection of State Road 77 and County Road 2300.

During the closure, detour signage will be posted to direct northbound and southbound traffic around the construction via Bridge Street, Newman Point Rd, Hamrick Rd and Fanning Bayou Drive. 2016 hurricane season predictions released

2016 hurricane season predictions released The 2016 Atlantic hurricane season forecast released recently from Colorado State University calls for the number of named storms and hurricanes to be near historical averages.

A total of 12 named storms, five hurricanes and two major hurricane are expected this season, according to the forecast prepared by CSU, which is headed by Dr. Phil Klotzbach in consultation with long-time hurricane expert Dr. William Gray.
